The charitable organization is continuing in its commitment to supporting LakeRidge Village’s community outreach efforts Driving Successful Lives, a Michigan-based national non-profit, recently turned over yet another vehicle to Detroit’s Lakeridge Village in furtherance of their mission to provide a lifeline to individuals and families who are in need of various levels of assistance to get back on their feet. Lakeridge Village is a non-profit agency that provides housing and other human services to those in need. “The work that LakeRidge does in and around the city of Detroit is so very important,” said a representative for Driving Successful Lives. “They create a plan and a path for folks to pull themselves up and become contributing members to the community once again. We are thrilled that we are able to support their mission by handing over the keys to vehicles that mobilize their operations & get people literally on the road to a new life.”
The low mileage 2000 Jeep Wrangler was donated to Driving Successful Lives on April 20th by a Grand Rapids, Michigan family. “This vehicle was donated to us with the express hopes of it going to someone who was sorely in need of reliable transportation,” added the DSL representative. “We knew that LakeRidge would see to it that this wish was fulfilled.”
“This donation could not have come at a better time,” says Pastor Eddie Williams of LakeRidge Village, Detroit, the recipient of the vehicle. “We have been blessed with abundance at our charity, and Driving Successful Lives has made it possible for us to have transportation for our program needs.” Moreover, this donation came at Easter. The heart of Easter lies in his words, “the new covenant between God and his people.” We have been so overwhelmed by the donations that have come in from our affiliates and the support that DSL has given us over the last year. To date, we have received vehicles for our members, our mission, our church and our organization to further our cause. Vehicles totaling over $50,000 were received and given to needy individuals to enhance their life and to further our programs. LakeRidge Village has implemented successful behavioral health care initiatives in Detroit over the past decade and this only helps us grow and serve more people.”
Pastor Eddie and Laverne Williams who run LakeRidge Village welcomed the kind donations and support from a fellow non-profit charity and committed to continue the mission of helping people integrate back into society and become productive members of the community. With the help and support of Driving Successful Lives, they have been able to expand their services of providing addiction treatment, housing, vocational training and ministry to people in their program.
About Driving Successful Lives
Driving Successful Lives’ mission is to facilitate car donations so that veterans, homeless families, children, those with addictions & other non-profits can benefit from fellow citizens giving-forward.
Every time a person gives to the charity of their choice it may also create a tax benefit for them. The money, the items, and the real property that they have donated to non-profit institutions throughout the tax year may be tax deductible which means that they could end up being the difference between a good tax
return and a great tax return. Depending upon the kind of donation and the type of charity or foundation that they chose to donate to, the tax deduction it creates could be very helpful for reducing the amount taxes that they owe. Many successful and wealthy people state that at least to a certain degree, a part of
whom they are and what they have become comes at least in part from the practice of giving. Contributing to charities can be a very convenient way to reduce taxes.
