Driving Successful Lives is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that accepts donations of vehicles, real estate and other property in support of its charitable programmes. The content here is general information about how donating works. It is not tax advice, legal advice or a valuation, and it is not a substitute for advice from your own professionals.
What a donor may deduct depends on the type of property, what happens to it after the donation, the appraisal where one is required, and the donor's own circumstances. Nothing on this site promises a particular deduction or a particular outcome. Consult your own tax adviser before relying on any expected tax treatment.
Asking about a donation costs nothing and commits neither side. Any indication we give that a donation can be accepted is preliminary and subject to confirming ownership, condition and - for property - title review. A donation is complete only when ownership has actually been transferred.
When you offer a donation you confirm that you are the owner or are authorised to act for the owners, that you will disclose what you know about liens, loans, unpaid taxes, occupancy and condition, and that the information you give us is accurate as far as you know.
There is no fee for enquiring and vehicle collection is arranged as part of the donation. Costs that can arise in a property transfer - appraisal, title work, recording, and your own professional advice - are agreed in writing before a transfer proceeds and are not assumed by us unless we have said so in writing.
Either party may decide not to proceed at any point before ownership transfers, for any reason.
Do not attempt to disrupt the site, access it by automated means that place an unreasonable load on it, or use its content for another commercial purpose without permission. Text, images and layout on this site belong to Driving Successful Lives or its licensors.
Where we link to another site we are not responsible for its content or its privacy practices.
The site is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error free, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from its use.
